Description

The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in North Carolina Haw River At Haw River affecting Alamance County.
What: Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record.
Where: Haw River at Haw River.
When: Until tomorrow morning.
Impacts: At 27.0 feet, Major flooding begins. The town of Haw River begins to flood. At 28.0 feet, Flood waters reach the bottom of the bridge across I40. At 30.0 feet, A mill on the left bank begins to flood.
Additional Details: - At 1:45 AM EDT Monday the stage was 32.0 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to fall below flood stage this evening and continue falling to 4.8 feet early Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood HistoryThis crest compares to a previous crest of 32.8 feet on 09/06/1996.

Action Recommandée

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. The next statement will be issued this afternoon.

Description

What: Flooding conditions caused by excessive rainfall persist but will slowly improve overnight.
Where: A portion of central North Carolina, including mainly northern portions of Alamance, Durham and Orange.
When: Until 300 AM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding near and adjacent to creeks and streams along with low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 114 AM EDT, Widespread heavy rain that occurred on Sunday which produced between 3 and 8 inches of rain across the area has ended. Most rivers and streams have stopped rising and will begin to recede later tonight. However, creeks and streams will remain high overnight and lingering flood waters will be slow to improve. Use caution when traveling tonight as it is difficult to identify the dangers of flooding at night. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Durham, Hillsborough, Mebane, Rougemont, Eno River State Park, Bahama, Lake Michie, Carr, Gorman, Bethesda, and Union Ridge. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
